play group take one

this morning we had our first play group.  we gathered at 10am at francis park and the kids were ready to paint! we had 11 children in attendance which i was pleased with for the first time.  i expect to have many more come when the weather is a bit warmer and kids are out of school this summer.

with a concrete canvas the children went to work...

the painting didn't last  long, but that's expected with children at such young ages.  the idea for this play group is to get outside with your children, meet some new ones and be a little creative at the same time.  its always fun to do something new, get a bit messy, and enjoy the fresh air.

there were balls to bounce and a quilt to sit on play with several toys.  i intend on bringing different toys each  time...

we ate snack which was great.  the kids ended up sharing amongst each other which gave them the opportunity to try different things that they may not have at home. one  mom even baked yummy cupcakes to share with everyone!

after about an hour we decided to clean up our mess and head over to the play ground...

i want to thank all the parents that took the time out of their mornings to come and spend it with us! if you are reading this blog and want to join us next time leave a comment on this blog or message me on facebook.  i will start planning the next one this week and will send out the invite asap!!!

have a good weekend and enjoy your little ones!!

maple goes to the zoo!

the weather this past wednesday was awesome so therefore i always feel compelled to take full advantage!
seany had  preschool, but vito and i were free to roam for a couple hours.  i decided we would do a fly by at the zoo, but i knew exactly how i could make it super exciting for v.  i crammed his lil buddy maple in my pocket and we were on our way.  anyone that knows vito best  knows just how special maple is.  maple was a gift that was given to me in the hospital while i was on bed rest and he's been vito's lovey since the day he was born.  mommy and daddy NEVER allow maple to leave the house but since it was just the two of us i knew i could keep a watchful eye on the situation.

i waited for the perfect moment and then i secretly surprised my boy!!

he could hardly believe that "my maple" was at the zoo!  he had to give him a quick inspection to make sure it was really him and not "maple #2".  (a backup maple that he has no interest in)  he was so excited to show maple the animals at the zoo!!

vito said that maple's favorite were the giraffes, the mommy and the baby one!

vito loves maple so much he even wanted mommy to buy him lunch and a soda at the zoo cause "maple so thirsty".  i don't think so v :)  it's amazing how much having maple at the zoo changed the whole experience for vito.  he thought it was great, and my heart melted every time he talked to his best friend.

vito is the best tour guide ever, just ask maple!!!

baked cotton balls?!

a couple weekends ago the boys and i made Baked Cotton Balls.  i've been trying to think of new activities to do with the boys and this was one i would have never ever thought of.

vito wasn't much a fan of dipping the cotton balls in the goo, but seany thought it was fun.  especially when he noticed the colors starting to mix, they make pretty swirls in the bowl.

we lined them up on the pan and they were ready to be popped in the oven!

it's amazing how hard and sturdy they become while remaining light and fluffy on the inside.  my boys choose to bust them apart using their super heroes.  next time we will take them outside and wack um with a hammer!!

be mine, valentine

what does valentines day mean to you?  when i was young it was a day to get a special surprise from my mom, and hand out cute lil cards to all my classmates at an afternoon school party.  i always loved picking out a box of valentines cards and signing them with my cutest handwriting!  as we all mature valentines day may represent a special day to spend with that someone special that makes your heart flutter.  romantic dinners, red roses,  a box of chocolates, and pretty sparkly things that come in small packages are always fun to receive!

for some just the mention of the word and they wanna gag :o(  o well, to each their own.

today we will celebrate the ones equipped with special hearts beating to their own lil drums.  for whatever reason God sculpted you that way and i think you are awesome!!!

some love needs to be kept behind closed doors....

cute love stories can be found on paper....
